Joyologist, my other Job Title

Today, I was thinking of Joy as I was listening to JOYce Meyer on the YouTube because the woman is so inspiring.  It's nice to see someone in the "Here and Now" reaching out and trying to bring people into self-realization.  Self-realization and the relationship with God. Now I know there will be turns on and turns off because I mentioned Joyce Meyer and she's a Christian. Oh no, she's a Christian or Oh Yay she's a Christian.  etc. etc. etc....  blah, blah, blah. Try to get past that listen to what the woman says!  Let go of the Judging Mind and take trust that God and the Universe has plans in which our human minds cannot fathom.

So, what do you do?  You find ways to be happy, find joy in your life. Find ways to be free from suffering.
That is my goal in life - help others find joy.  With me it is through the power of dance and the Nia Technique.

Then I remembered Winalee Zeeb she is my Nia Technique white belt trainer, incredible lady and made a huge impact with her wisdom and skills as not only a Nia Trainer but her experience in life.  Well, she may have coined the term "Joyologist."  I don't know.  However at the time she stated she puts "Joyologist" on her business card.  I am thinking of going in that direction.  Then I did some research on the web and found this really cool lady ->  http://www.yourjoyologist.com/

Fell in love with her instantly via her Facebook profile picture.  I couldn't help but to laugh my rear end off.   Her mission is:

I want for all of us in this world to truly live each day and truly love each day.  This world has so much to offer us, day in and day out, no matter where you are or who you are.  I want you to make this day yours. I want you to make this life yours.

Love that!!!

So, that is my other job title, "Joyologist!"  As that is my mission in life.  Using the power of dance to help those find joy even if it is for a moment in their life.

My new schedule will be up in October.  God-willing the Future Life Now studio will be up to code by then.

To Point the Finger. It's Your Fault, Eve! Someone please give the girl a break!

Once again the subject of Adam and Eve came up and how humanity is all screwed up because of that one particular event. Of course a huge portion of humanity takes this story very seriously as they point the finger at Adam and Eve for being a couple of suckers! It's not my fault I am screwed up in the head it is their fault! Uh, Really!?!?!?

Okay, I suppose I am being a tadbit rebellious, against who??? I guess that is up who's perusing. I'll wait till God says, "Tina, you are crazy, I think I am going to condemn you to hell for not taking things at face value!"

This is what I am really seeing, I am seeing the "Point the Finger Syndrome." I don't care what happened millennium agos. I don't care if the story is true or false. I care about the here and now.

When I see that story, this is what I see. I see a moral and the moral is; Don't be seduced. Use your head. Don't follow the bad example. Adam and Eve was challenged, God asked not to eat from this particular tree. Snake comes along and seduces, Eve falls for the seduction, then seduces and then Adam falls for the seduction. This is a profound statement being said, but all people want to do is "point the finger." It's their fault, this is why women suffer from childbirth. hahahhahahaha! God can you please come to planet earth and clarify to me please?

Now I can sit here all day and point the finger at them and say, you two are the reason the world is crazy! What good can come from that? It doesn't make sense and to me it turns into a scapegoat and an excuse to be crazy. I can point the finger at myself when I am allowing myself to be seduced by things I should not have. Like pasta and wheat bread, Looks innocent, is real cheap, makes a great meal. But since I have hypothyroidism, I have gluten intolerance and gluten causes my muscles to stiffen. See what I am saying, or do I need to take this subject deeper?

Opportunity for Evolution

Memory recall today about a gay man who hated women. I was working at a grocery store at the time and this guy despised me in every sense of the word. Well, another gay man who was packing the groceries said, "Oh, he hates women." I was somewhat bewildered at the time as I couldn't understand what I did wrong. Not too long after that a tall heavy set black woman hated me and attacked me as well. So, they took their anger out on me.

And why not me? Why not be angry with me? Yes, it's true, I did nothing but exist or resemble something triggered their misplaced anger issues. For the gay man it was the fact that I had a vagina and his mother was abusive to him. For the black lady, is was that my skin was white. There were no other reasons, but that, or is there?

I was contemplating those events and asking myself, what should have been the appropriate reaction.

Originally, I had a dumb reaction to both instances, and the reaction was "that is unfair, you don't know me."

What should have been my gay man reaction? Answer: I could have said, well, my father was gay, a pedophile and he hated his children so much that his motto was, "To get to the mother, you must hurt the children." Well, I didn't say it. Should I have said it. And if I did say it, would he have heard what I said, or would he place his reality on the situation and come back with another insult? Who knows. The real question should be, should I have a reaction to his reaction?

What should have been my black womans' reaction? "How dare you? I am just like you, I come from a family of color and the neighborhood kids used to tease me and call me nigger because of my dark skinned father. "I had no reaction, all I did was cry and scream nigger at her as I so foolishly wanted to hurt her as she hurt me. I was not the human being as I am now. Still maturing and figuring out right and wrong. That is kind of hard to do when most of your life you lacked the nurture you needed as a child. Note: Lucky for me God has put people in my path to make me conscious. Thank you, Lord!

So, what should have been my initial reaction to help all parties evolve? Oh and does it matter?

If I had a reaction it may have been good if both parties were in "right-mind," but when you have two "non-right" minds you do not get good results, you get war. Hatred, only because of each party is incapable of right thinking at that moment. Doesn't mean that later down the road when right thinking is possible that evolution will not occur.

Small example from a quote of what appears to be right thinking to me:

I Like this quote I dislike this quote

“Freethinkers are those who are willing to use their minds without prejudice and without fearing to understand things that clash with their own customs, privileges, or beliefs. This state of mind is not common, but it is essential for right thinking;”

Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy quotes (Russian moral Thinker, Novelist and Philosopher, notable for his influence on Russian literature and politics. 1828-1910)

So, I have evolved from it. If they don't, this is not my problem. It is their path, not mine. I can pray that they become conscious of their actions and they are greeted with the same opportunity to evolution as I am. Unless, I have the opportunity to meet them once again, then what would I do. Angry Gay Man hates me: Answer: "Oh sir, I understand my father was a gay pedophile that tortured both my brother and myself. Here is your change, have a nice day. :D" Would he have heard me? Would it make him angrier? Or would he just walk away.

Angry Black Lady hates me: Answer: "Oh, ma'am I know, people hate me because of my color and my vagina for as long as I lived - I can relate." I think this would make angry black lady angrier at me. Understandable, because often I have heard, white people have no idea what black people go through. I suppose "many" white people may not. If the black community would explain, I don't know if "many" white people would comprehend and if white people went through the same thing would they get it? I do not think they would comprehend either... Why? Well, I am seeing too many "become what they hate" and many would say, "an eye for an eye.". Ghandi would say, "An eye for and eye and the whole world would go blind."

Actually, I think both of those answers are insufficient, so let's explore letting go:

By letting it go it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try. The world is beyond the winning.~Lao Tzu

Perhaps, witnessing and letting go is the best answer. Is that another wrong answer? Because will anyone evolve from letting go.

What would Buddha do? What would Jesus do? And since I am not an authority, I am not a psychiatrist, psychologist or a preacher it is not my place to respond, really? If I respond wouldn't that be my ego trying to push my ideas, my so called right thinking in their face?

The right answer: Since I am not Jesus or Buddha or an authority on Gays or Blacks, psychologist, psychiatrist and since each human is so unique their reaction will be unique I think the best answer for me is to bow and say, "namaste, thank you for this opportunity to evolve." I am not an authority, but I recognize an opportunity when I am given one and from now on when I am faced with a challenge, I will look at it as an opportunity for evolution. As I know for me, I have reflected today, I have went into my heart and said, wow, I am so sorry you are so hurt by this and another bandage on my heart is uncovered and my heart heals naturally. May the same happen for them.

Exploration of Moksha -> Goal | To Find True Joy

How do we achieve moksha? What is moksha? Moksha is liberation. Liberation from what? Well, since each of us are unique individuals with unique genealogical backgrounds, generations upon generations of mental programming, unique experiences, unique perspectives, that question -> "liberation from what?" is impossible to answer.

There is absolutely no one answer, except for your exploration to find true joy.

My thoughts in order to find true joy, I am to set a series of guidelines that can evolve as I evolve. I was thinking utilizing the don Miguel Ruiz's Four Agreements as my beginning guidelines. As matter of fact, I am currently developing a contract based from those Agreements for my Nia classes. Heck, I am thinking of making that contract for friends and family members too.

So, let's summarize those guidelines and explore the possibility of moksha through them.

Agreement #1 - Be impeccable with your word. Sounds easy, right? To tell the truth, to speak from the "I," to stop gossiping, it is quite the challenge. Some people find pleasure in hurting others, and gossiping is a great way to hurt people. Also, even if the gossip is true, it is in essence black magic. Even if it is about yourself, it is black magic.

Agreement #2 - Don't take anything personally. Whew, what a challenge but once you've achieved this challenge, life gets so much easier. I know this from experience as this is the one thing that as a fitness instructor, no matter what your modality is, they all say, "Do not take anything personal."

Really, if you think about it, it's true as we are all unique, we all have unique perspectives, and in America, we have a really bad tendency to make fun of others who are not like ourselves. Personally, I find this behavior to be a low level human behavior and find it tasteless. I know as I have partaken in this behavior and found it to be detrimental for my self as it is for others. Luckily, we all have the potential to evolve and the 2nd agreement is a great way to challenge yourself.

Agreement #3 - Do not make assumptions. Now this is by far the most challenging of all the agreements. Watch yourself, explore this and you will see how we have this tendency to make assumptions every day even in the mundane things.

Agreement #4 - Always do your best. Even go as far as to challenge yourself to do better and to challenge yourself to quit. Some people can't stop and make their self sick, some people are so lazy they do not want to pursue the challenge. Tweak and explore the possibilities to do better, feel better, find joy.

Ask yourself, what do I need to challenge myself in finding joy? What do I need to do to find happiness?

What is hindering my process? Why can I not get there? What do I need to get there? What is preventing me to get there?

The subject is moksha. Liberation can mean so much. Slavery comes in many forms, from food to emotions to real life circumstances. I do not know about you, but I am not interested in being a slave to any and all things.

Exploration is the key, so since you are so unique to your very core, how do you explore?

Keep Talking

A voice is a human gift; it should be cherished and used, to utter fully human speech as possible. Powerlessness and silence go together. ~Margret Atwood

Back in 1994 Pink Floyd came out with the album called "Division Bell" and a song, "Keep Talking." Yes, came out with an album too, which was called, "Talk."

I believe these two bands were trying to send a message.

Keep Talking Lyrics

There's a silence surrounding me
I can't seem to think straight
I'll sit in the corner
No one can bother me
I think I should speak now
___________
Why won't you talk to me

I can't seem to speak now
____________
You never talk to me

My words won't come out right
________
What are you thinking

I feel like I'm drowning
_____________
What are you feeling

I'm feeling weak now
_________________
Why won't you talk to me

But I can't show my weakness
_________
You never talk to me

I sometimes wonder
___________________
What are you thinking

Where do we go from here
_____________
What are you feeling

It doesn't have to be like this
All we need to do is make sure we keep talking

Yes it was in the song "Endless Dream" on the album "Talk," which is a three part song, which includes talk.

Hold your head up high you know you've
Come a long way, a long way
Tainted as a fugitive with nothing left to say
Temptation may come hope your vision doesn't stray
In the name of God you may be forced away

Moving forward to the only place you know
Side tracked by some indiscretion
Changing as you go

Temptation may come hope your
Conscience doesn't hide
The longest trip you'll take is inside

I am quickly learning. To Not Talk can have detrimental consequences and the consequence can vary.

I am not a saint, and much like the billions of other people on this planet, I have committed crimes against others, crimes against myself, crimes against nature and crimes against God. Let me ask you this, who the heck has not?

Who has not lied? Who has not done black magic? Gossiping, running their mouths about someone. Who does not steal life? Who does not exploit? Who on this planet is holy and pure?

Silence. We grow silent, because we strive to be perfect and we strive to make an image that we are perfect? Who said perfect is a good thing?

Silence. Is being molested as a child and not telling anyone because it will destroy the family.

Silence. Is saying you cannot speak to people about your crimes because they will judge you.

Silence is saying you know something is wrong but you cannot tell anyone because they will hurt you. You fight this dis-ease inside you but, you are not getting the help and support you need to not be a slave to your fears, your desires, your anger. The world will judge you.

Silence, means it's okay to hurt sentient beings as they cannot talk back.

Silence is an insanity that makes people chronic diseased.

Silence is working in a job where you cannot speak out when you know the corporation is committing heinous crimes.

The world had lost it's voice and the pain festers and festers. Silence is a crime against man, against nature and against God.

The governments of this world is freaking out they can no longer control us, they can no longer silence us. It is after all the information age. They poisoned us with the industrial age and now it's the information age as we are quickly learning that we have been poisoned for nearly a millennium.

People are sick. jobs are lost, no money for insurance, no insurance to get help. The information age exposes this.

The information age is exposing the crimes done by your country, their country and my country. The people are realizing this, thanks to the information age.

However, more black magic is casted on corporate own media. More black magic is casted as politicians defame other politicians. More black magic is casted to those who are slaves to their desires.

What do you do? Do you surrender? Do you blame? Do you fight? What can you do? Do you remain silent in hopes that it will all pass? What does silence really do to you, your body, your mind.

I am finding remaining silent causes more problems than we need. I keep thinking of my mother, her silence because a family member hurt her. She chose silence and because she did, she suffers internally. Her heart broken, her bitterness, her resentment has not only affected her, but her children, her relationships, her trust in God. All because she felt silence was needed to protect herself, protect someone she loved.

Her silence reflects in her environment, her silence reflected in her lack of nurture for her children as she has shut down. Her silence forbids her to stand up for herself, for her children, for the very loved one who she was trying to protect all these years.

Absolute silence leads to sadness. It is the image of death.
~Jean Jacques Rousseau

Don't be one of those people on their deaths bed, dying on a bed filled with regret, wishing they would have spoke out more.

I write for those women who do not speak, for those who do not have a voice because they were so terrified, because we are taught to respect fear more than ourselves. We've been taught that silence would save us, but it won't. ~Audre Lorde

Preparing for Blue Belt - Body Mind and Soul

Helen Terry, a Nia Black Belt and Teacher Trainer, is coming to the Greater Cincinnati Tristate this April 2012. I am very excited about this event because I know the transformation that will take place during this time.

Nia has been quite the transformational process for me. I've been teaching Nia for 2 years now, and was certified 3 years ago and wow, I'm still amazed and humbled by what it has done for me. Even with the trials, tribulations and hallucinations that have occurred in the past years I am still amazed of the changes, the awakenings, what have you, that have occurred in my life.

When I first started, I'll be honest, I was hoping to make money while being a stay-at-home mom and trying to find a way to keep motivated to move so I could live - be alive! Honestly, I felt like I was dying since I have had my son, we spent 71 days in the hospital together and I knew I had to find something to keep me healthy. Nia has done that for me with my motivation being my love for dance. Nia has open the opportunity to dance for me.

Then when I realized that this was going to be a really hard task, for one, making money at it, two the schism taking place for what ever reason I am still unclear of. Then my body was really failing as my thyroid was failing me. I had to up my hormones and suffer from the consequences of the hormones meds. Those same meds are causing anxieties and depression which I am consistently working through. Concentration was impossible and the chronic fatigue was taxing. And I am sure I have been quite bitchy in the process because my hormones are all over the place, every moon phase I feel death take over my body and wonder am I going to die today. This and I am going on 40 and possibly peri-menopausal. There are times where I become a hormonal temperamental mess. The good part of this is, I am conscious of it and frequently work through it with hopes I do not put my foot in my mouth. HA! Take that!

Back to Nia, Nia started to open doors for me, it introduced me to the Feldenkrais Method via Cynthia Allen, Integrative Learning Center and Future Life Now CEO, which gave me the tools to work with my sciatic nerve pinches and alleviate pain. It opened me up to my own demons and how to work with them and not to be a slave to them. It has given me self-knowledge - getting to know myself: fears, anger, bitterness and my judging mind. Nia has taught me to step into beginners mind. It has taught me to be compassionate to others and forgiving them and myself. I am mostly hard on myself than I am on others.

It has taught me to be a little bit more open. It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of people think of me as someone who has something to hide. I do, my own pain and suffering. There "was" a lot of suffering, my heart, my body, my soul has been crying for quite some time. I keep those emotions locked away from everyone to see, because I figure this is something I need to work through, and it's none of your business. It's up to God to put the right people in my life to help me through that and God has certainly put people in my life to help me through it, amazing people and continues to do so with Nia and other modalities. I have come to the conclusion that you must be quite the incredible person to take the time to get to know me. To see through the wall and help me tear it down and God has, one brick at a time.

Nia has also opened me up to an array of people who have helped me find answers to my thyroid situation. Rachael Resch, a Nia black belt and Teacher Trainer has opened the door to me with that as I am currently transition with my diet to cure my thyroid. On this diet, I have lost weight and prevented chronic fatigue.

Through Nia, I have been challenged by instructors, I have been nurtured by instructors, and I have also been defamed by instructors. It's all good, it's all apart of the process of my evolution. This is what Nia has done for me. It has helped me evolve. I am not the person I used to be - I have become amazing. I am still working through the dark parts, but it's ok, I trust that it will all work out.

Now, my goal for blue belt, or however many belts it takes to get there. I want to absorb the very essence of joy. I want to be joy. When I walk in a room, I want people to feel the ever presence of joy. When people come near me, if they are blue I want them to become joyful. I want to use Nia as a way for people to find joy in themselves, become it and make it contagious so that they fill the hearts of their friends and loved ones with joy. God-willing this will happen. I am not a very religious person, but I know God, I am confident in the way God works, and I am confident that God wants this for me.

I was hoping this was to happen in October for Green Belt in Sarasota with Nia Black Belt and Teacher Trainer, Kelly Atkins and Helen Terry. Which is okay, with Miss Kelly, I've had many revelations. But, it has to happen here in Cincinnati and with this community.

Finally, this April is going to be amazing, one way or another, it's going to be extraordinary and I am anxious, open and ready for what ever comes my way. Hopefully, God has prepared me for my mind to be open, for my mind to listen, to hone my skills and to become the very essence of joy. And if not this belt, perhaps the next. We'll see, it's all about natural timing.

If you live in the area or around, I invite you to join us. Starting April 14th, 2012 at the Kula Center in Newport, Kentucky. I am very happy that that Saturday at 6:00pm she will be doing a routine with the music from the band Pink Floyd. This band has also been a key component of my evolution, so I am very excited about this.

For more information on the Blue Belt training: http://www.nianow.com/nia-training/257/nia-blue-belt-intensive-training-11

I consider myself honored and blessed to have this opportunity and I am looking forward to dancing with all who come.

Alan Watts

I love all things Alan Watts. Everything about him, even what some would consider a defect I still love and adore that part of him because in my eyes he was perfect. Perfectly imperfect in all his glorious ways.

“Things are as they are. Looking out into it the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.” ~Alan Watts

Here is a music video created by http://colorpulsemusic.com And you can download the song on their site. It's well done and my applause to melodysheep.

That Gut Feeling ~ Manipura

Something I found interesting and am totally convinced of, because of my experience when studying and working with the Manipura is we have a strong connection between our brains and our guts. Reason being, the two parts evolved from the same clump of cells when we were born. Plus, one half of our nerve cells are located in the gut. 100 million nerve cells are located in the small intestine alone. So, think about that when you stuff that baconotar down your throat, we certainly become what we eat. Cows living depressed and with anxiety, full well knowing their fate. You are what you eat and we wonder why so many people today live with depression and anxiety. This is also why I prefer to eat consciously, choose wise eating habits. I'll be adding recipes in the near future.

What Creates an Unhealthy Manipura

Many things in a power-hungry society can influence the Manipura. Let’s use some examples, overly strict parents who strongly use their authority over you and how you handle that power is one way of creating a deficient Manipura. You may have a tendency to fear challenges because of authoritarian rule. A parent who feels they need to break the will of a kid is only going to end up with a hurt child with problems. Now on the other hand, you may have parents that are the complete opposite, and let you run wild. Lacking those healthy boundaries that a child needs. Let’s just face it, all things need a happy medium and the right discipline is needed, kids need that because they need to know they need to know they are being looked after and nurtured.

Over-stimulation, lack of stimulation, neglect, abuse, domineering parents and children not allowed choice are more things that can create an unhealthy Manipura. Parents who undermine you, “How could you do that?” “You broke another plate!!!” “You do such stupid things!” “Your stomach is too big,” when you wear zeros. Verbal or physical actions that give you a sense of shame, shame of what you say, your body, etc, paralyzes the Manipura.

Deficient Manipura include:
· Lethargy
· Lack of will
· Stomach troubles
· Gas
· Apathy
· Chronic fatigue
· Not enjoying what you do, you dread doing

Excessive Manipura:
· Egotistical
· Hyperactive
· Can’t sit still
· Controlling
· Can’t discharge energy
· Type A personality
· Bragger

To go deeper, check out “The Chakra System, A Complete Course in Self-Diagnosis and Healing.” By Anodea Judith. A fantastic course where she breaks down the chakras, what causes excessive or deficient chakra, mental dis-ease and health dis-ease, blockages, the psychology behind each chakra that affects us, plus ways to heal them.

Healing the Manipura with Your Nia Practice

One of the things I love about Nia is, we are constantly doing these beautiful unusual twist and turns. If you watch these twist turns, they seem to travel from one part of the body to the next; from top to bottom which often includes the solar plexus. This is a great thing, because lack of blood flow to the solar plexus is also key to anxiety, so the twist and turns are perfect.

When you get started, focus on the Manipura, if you need physical visualization, make an upside down triangle with your hands in the solar plexus area: Chant the Manipura mantra. Start working your solar plexus with waves or rolls of your solar plexus. Visualize a fire purifying you.

If anxieties or apprehensions begin to occur – That would be considered a good sign as you are beginning to detox. Use breathing or chanting to keep focused and not get caught up in those emotions. If that doesn’t work, call on your deity/God. If you need to hurl, that’s ok too, run to the bathroom and let go. These are just toxins that need to come out.
Any apprehension occurring then after the stomach rolls and body twist you can also push that energy from the solar plexus then push it into the ground from stomach, to pelvis and through the ground to let Ma Earth recycle the energy.

Other ideas during Nia practice do something spontaneous that you wouldn’t ordinary do. Mental noise like shame, aggression, anger, fear visualize those things in your head then shake that energy off, don’t claim it, lose your attachment with you. Throw it to the ground. If you have a tendency to be quite and withdrawn, get flirtatious, use a lot of sounding, let go, scream your head off. Any ideas that come to mind use it. One of the things I love about Nia is when we step in, it’s a no judgment zone, and this includes judging yourself. Have fun!

Chanting During Nia

Deep Sounding with deep breath can generate strong blood flow to the Manipura. Much like fire breathing meditation, but I wouldn’t recommend fire-breathing meditation during Nia – you’d pop a lung or something. But with a deep breath in adding to a warrior cry or an anxiety relieving “ahhh” would be helpful.

– Ram is the mantra for the Manipura. During Nia class or you feel compelled to, chant “Ram” vocally or mentally.

Now, I also want to mention which I haven’t mentioned in the other earlier Chakras, there are also Bijas, (seed mantras reverberations). Manipura is RuNG. Svadhisthana is VuNG and Muladhara is LuNG.

Note: The NG is said with the tongue on the roof of the mouth.
“U” or “Am” is said much like “Aum” or “Amen.” Also note, RuNG sounds much like ram.

Replenishing and Reprogramming with Healthy Emotions

Raising hands to heaven lovingly collect any joy energy or reclaim your will, allowing yourself “choice,” see yourself with self-confidence, feel pro-active, see your will growing strong, see yourself more patient or what ever you feel you need.

Turning and twisting your arms using the power of the solar plexus, visualize the positive energy coming to joy, love, compassion for self, visualize it. Collect that energy and use that upside down triangle to bring that energy down and bring it into the solar plexus. Do this 3 or 8 times.

Have any more great ideas, then feel free to add.
Tina

The Suchness of Now

My dear friend to whom I never met, but I know we are kindred spirits shared this video with me.  It's with Eckert Tolle, The Now:

Oh, So Sweet! Svadhisthana

With Nia there are a lot of healing movements pertaining to all the chakras and in this session we will focus with the second chakra known as the Svadhisthana or the sacral chakra or even the sex chakra.  As we are going beyond the correspondence, please check out the following link if you want to learn more about the correspondences: http://www.chakra-colors.com/Sexual-Chakra/

The Svadhisthana involves emotions, sexuality and fluidity/flexibility of the body.  It is located at the sacrum, genitals, affecting hips, knees and the lower back. So, movement will be based on those areas. But, before we get into the movements let’s discuss what creates an unhealthy sacral charka.

What Creates an Unhealthy Svadhisthana

As Svadhisthana chakra is ruled by water, water-signifying emotions. Know that, water should naturally flow. So, think of good, healthy flowing water that is drinkable. Where stagnant water is undrinkable because it’s poisonous. So, the question needs to be asked, “How does one become undrinkable?”

A unhealthy Svadhisthana chakra signifies restrictions. Parents who are restrictive equal a child not allowed to speak.  I’m sure many of you heard the saying, “A child should be seen and not heard.” This child will not be allowed to speak out when he or she needs to be heard. This child will cry and will not get the response that she is crying for. Neglect plays a big role in this child’s life when proper nurturing is needed.

This child will be denied the creativity and live in an environment that shuns creativity. These restrictions will deny the good healthy natural pleasure that balances us emotionally, physically and spiritually.  Children love to interact with their parents, they loved to be heard, and they should be heard. Plus, children are naturally creative, we can learn a lot from a child’s natural creativity. Parents should be receptive to their child needs. Otherwise, as Anodea Judith puts it so well in her literature, a child will become emotionally illiterate.

So, if this programming is set into our minds and our bodies, what are the consequences?
If this chakra is deficient, we are subjected to fear:
  • Fear of change,
  • Fear of contact,
  • Fear of intimacy,
  • Poor social skills,
  • Feeling emotionally numb
  • Avoids pleasure, looks at pleasure like its evil.
  • Lacking that spark to life, lacking desire, and passion.
  • Depression

If this chakra is excessive:
  • Very sensually driven, prone to sexually act out
  • Sexually addictive
  • Constantly have to be stimulated by sights and sound.  Watches a lot of tv, constantly going to the movies, constantly listening to music. They have to be stimulated all the time and can’t sit or be silent for a minute.
  • Drug addiction/alcohol addiction
  • Addicted to drama, only feels alive when drama happens.
  • Easily hurt, always off on emotional roller coasters.
  • Have a tendency to emotionally attach to a person, and can go as far as stalking them because they feel that this person is the only one who can satisfy them emotionally.
  • Manipulates people emotionally, seducing people to get their needs met.

What happens to the body?
Emotions play a pivotal role with the physical body and its muscles. As emotions must naturally flow like water, if it doesn't then naturally there will be physical consequences. Stagnation will occur; the body becomes stiff, losing its flexibility and we are only as healthy as we are flexible.

To go deeper, check out “The Chakra System, A Complete Course in Self-Diagnosis and Healing.” By Anodea Judith. There she will go deeper into the Svadhisthana, how if affects your desires, emotions and fear of pleasure. It’s a fantastic course where she breaks down the chakras, what causes excessive or deficient chakra, mental dis-ease and health dis-ease, blockages, the psychology behind each chakra that affects us, plus ways to heal them.

Healing the Svadhisthana with Your Nia Practice

Start off mentally focused on the idea of “change.”  Change is pivotal in healing the Svadhisthana. So, invite change into your life. Since emotions are related to desire, focus on those types of emotions and work through them with your Nia practice.  Now, if you notice that you get caught up in those emotions and you start to cry.  It’s ok, it’s good that you are crying, however if you feel that those emotions are overwhelming.  Focus on a word, that word can be anything.  It can be the name of your deity, saint, or just a word.  The purpose of the word is to ground you. Chant it in your mind or out loud.  Sometimes just saying “Ahhhhhhhhh” is a great way to ground.

Nia Movements:
When ever the opportunity occurs and it will because Nia works with all 13 joints, which includes the hip joints.  Focus intently on your hips movements.  Hip bumps, pelvic circles, free movements that involve hip movements. This is the time to connect to the emotions that involve the Svadhisthana. Nurture those emotions, recognize them for who they are then, recycle those emotions by sending them into the earth then ground. Ground them by pushing those emotions down through your legs with pelvic pushes.  Emotions will spiral into the earth.

As you continue your Nia practice, you will start to feel more natural ways to move that energy, those emotions and go with it.  This is what Nia is about, it’s natural, it’s The Body’s Way.

Chanting During Nia

– Vam is the mantra for the Svadhisthana.  While you are practicing any Nia movements or you feel compelled to, chant “Vam” vocally or mentally.

Replenishing and Reprogramming with Healthy Emotions

Now that you have released unhealthy emotions, it’s time to replenish/reprogram your body with new emotions.  Those of you who have taken Nia will understand the next bit of info.
  • When you extend your arms to the heavens, invite joy and happiness into your heart.
  • When you extend your arms to the community then embrace yourself, embrace joy and happiness.
  • When you extend your hands to heavens, use your body to spiral happiness and joy throughout your body. Shifting your upper then lower body, spiral head to toe pushing that energy throughout your body saying to yourself, I accept and deserve joy and happiness.
When ever your work with space, your space around you, and the three different levels extend joy and happiness energy to your aura.

Sensation Scientist

Ok, some people maybe looking for my chakra posts.  Most of them are on wordpress and I am in the process of switching accounts.  It's just right now I am deciding the best possible route to go with "ALL" my blogs.  So, if you are interested in the Chakra blogs, please go to the following link:  http://aumnation.wordpress.com/chakra-blogs/

The above charkas are not done yet, I just seem to be going through a tadbit of a writer's block. The creativity has been rerouted in another direction.

Debbie Rosas
Creator of Nia
So, let's talk about "Sensation Scientist!"  I am so thrilled about this topic that Debbie Rosas the creator of Nia has brought about.  I haven't even gone through the course yet, but, just the title alone has excited me and sucked me completely into the topic.  "Sensation" meaning senses, perception and awareness.  Scientist meaning person who studies or practices any of the science or scientific methods."Wow!" "Outstanding, Wow!"

I am so thrilled with this.  Simply because this is something I've been so intrigued with physically, mentally, spiritually.  The sensations that has happened with my body during certain life processes and experiments.  What a pleasure for my analytical mind.

So, what does being a sensation scientist mean to me; past, present, future?

Past Sensation Scientist:
As a child, it would of explained the awareness I had "before" I was getting into trouble and my stomach would grow ill. Signaling that  trouble was ahead.

As a teen, it would explain my hormones going out of whack and having the desires that I had that got me into a lot of trouble. If I were to be conscious of the sensations, and not a slave to my desires, perhaps I could have avoided the trouble.  Who knows, maybe - maybe not.

Present Sensation Scientist:
As an adult, it would mean being conscious of the mistakes I made or make and changes I am going through now. Being conscious of my mind, recognizing  how those memories of regret affects me physically and learning to let go and change. Initializing the Nia Technique known as R.A.W. - Relaxed body, Alert Mind and Waiting Spirit.

Future Sensation Scientist:
As I grow towards being a crone, it explains the freedom that invites me to live my life and be myself where in the past I was denied. Allowing myself some freedom as I reached a mature point in my life. Utilizing all those techniques I stumbled onto as I searched for truth. Being the seeker that I was, then becoming the butterfly.

What Does Being a Sensation Scientist Mean to Me...
What I like about this the most is, anyone can be a sensation scientist. That everyone brings a unique experience to the table. It means that there are no rules or boundaries, because to me, the same solution does not apply to every person. Each person is unique. Each person is invaluable and has lot to offer.

A Sensation Scientist defies the limitations of the judging mind, the critical mind. As a matter of fact, the judging mind would almost be a sin.

Most of all, the Sensation Scientist will become the real pleasure, the real joy and extend that energy outside of themselves so that it will bring joy and pleasure to those who are ready for it.

Claiming Your Ground – Muladhara

I haven’t been posting or blogging like my usual self due to I’ve been studying chakras.  My intent is to apply chakra healing to my Nia practice, especially since Nia HQ eliminated Chakra Dancer from their routines because of copyright issues.  Luckily, I have a Nia Instructor who is guiding me through the Chakra Dancer process.  I’ve also been studying Anodea Judith’s Chakra System books, mainly because she works off of Arthur Avalon’s book, “The Serpent Power.”  A man I take highly serious, not only because I have studied his teachings for the past 10 years, but also because Ram Dass and Bhagavan Das recommends his teachings.

This blog is dedicated to the root chakra, technical name: Muladhara.  Now, if you want to learn the correspondence to the chakra’s check out the following link:http://oneyogalife.wordpress.com/2008/05/19/a-brief-description-of-the-chakras/

In this blog, I am going beyond the correspondence and discuss the healing emotions relating to the Muladhara chakra, applying it to your Nia practice to strengthen the healing process.

What Creates an Unhealthy Chakra

Muladhara is a chakra about survival instincts, things that we are not thinking about yet we have this innate intelligence ie instinct.  This chakra is molded and shaped starting from the time in the womb till about 12 months of infancy.  So, it’s starts with how your mother feels about her maternity and on.  Complicated birthing process may weaken the Muladhara, where healthy births create a healthy first chakra.
If a mother is unhappy about the pregnancy or she is having complications or she may feel abandoned or alone because she herself is unwanted. Her feelings and fears make her body contract and when her body is contracted, the muscles in the womb contract and feel tight and tense.  Instinct tells the baby being here is uncomfortable.

When baby comes out of the womb and is not greeted by loving touches, kept warm, supported, held comfortably by loved ones, physically abused, malnourished, overfed, and/or if the parents fears are passed down onto the child. The infant will remain contracted and mistrust is developed. Unfortunately, these emotions will naturally be programmed into their minds and can stay with them life long.

The mental state of a person with an unhealthy first chakra are; frequent fear, fear of change, anxiety, spacey, lack of discipline, restlessness and laziness.  Physical states would include either obesity or underweight.  These people will have a tendency to hoard and be materialistic.

Depending on the individual, the chakra can be excessive or deficient and the body reacts creating various illnesses. Excessive means your body will not release energies, deficient means we are not in the body; we don’t want to be in the body, we fear the body.

Healing the Muladhara with Nia

I have noticed with a lot of the Nia routines, Carlos and Debbie Rosas choreographed movements that work with the chakras as their intentions are to add various holistic practices and apply it to Nia.  This is what makes Nia so unique and you can add anything you have learned here to your Nia practice. As you grow with your Nia practice some these movement will naturally become apparent to you.  If you are taking a Nia class you are on your way to healing or connecting to spirit, healing your mind and body.  You obviously want the change, so we applaud you in your efforts!  A healthy you creates a healthy planet as we are all connected.

So, let’s start with the basics:

Since the Muladhara is connected to the feet, legs and the base of the spine, a lot of the Nia movements deal with those areas.

The Focus and Intent – If your instructor has not set a focus or you just want to set your own focus, think of something about yourself that you want to heal. Concentrate on that focus during your Nia practice.

The “Step In” – Let go of any distractions to help focus.

Connecting To Space/Your Space – Everyone who has taken Nia knows what this means.  Use this as an opportunity to collect and gather thoughts and emotions you want to heal. Visualize yourself connecting to these emotions, loving these emotions no matter how hurtful these emotions are, and then prepare yourself to recycle them into the earth.

Closed Stance/Open Stance – a great opportunity to root yourself, grounding your energy.  When you are in closed stance visualize roots extending from your feet deep into the earth. Here is an opportunity to recycle any emotions or energy needed to heal into the earth.  Visualize all those feelings draining from your body through the roots to be grounded into the earth.  The earth has the power to cleanse that energy, recycle it into something positive.

Creating a Spiral Through Your Legs – Starting from the tailbone, activate your Muladhara by pushing your pelvis in a downward motion.  This will create a spiral of energy through your legs.  Here is a good opportunity to take emotions, that something that needs to heal and spiral it into the earth.

Spinal Rolls and Undulating the Spine – Roll/Undulate as your Nia Instructors instructs you to.  Feeling gravity connecting and rooting you to the earth as you push down with your feet. With your upper body you awaken the chakras as you roll upwards feel yourself lift and grow out of the earth.  Energy anew.

Chanting During Nia – Lam is the mantra for the Muladhara.  While you are practicing any Nia movements or you feel compelled to chant “Lam” vocally or mentally.

Arise Medicine Warriors - Be An Agent of Calm!

Listen to this as you read this blog:
http://soundcloud.com/soundtrack_dxb/song-for-agents-of-calm

I've been so upset and so furious about this thing going on in the Gulf that I got swept up in Maya, the Illusion. I should have been more focused on alleviating the suffering with all the murder that is going on. Suffering in not just the people, but suffering of our brother and sisters of the sea. My focus needs to change, the focus needs to be more on awakening the unconscious minds. The focus should be warning our brothers and sisters of the sea of the danger that BP is currently doing to the gulf and that they should find a new home.

The focus needs to be on the universe and listen to her voice. I believe the only way we can heal this planet is - we have to become conscious of all nature, of all sentient beings. To do this, we need to put ourselves in the place of those who we affect. We need to be Agents of Calm.

We need to heal the wound, or the cancer will be literally burned off by the Universe to save herself.

We can respond with great fear, or we can respond with great love and this is our option. ~Eden Sky

Stepping Outside the Flesh

I was thinking about this the other day... So, once we drop our bodies who are we really? Are we man, woman, white, black, Asian, Mexican, Buddhist, Jew? Are we any of these once we move on? And if we aren't any of these things, why do we consistently identify with them now? What's up with these attachments? What's the point? Yes, I am a woman and a mother, people identify with me this way. Heck, most people who look at me think I'm a bitch. They assumed an identity for me, not even giving me a chance.

So, the question comes about - once I am dead, am I still mother?

“Identity is theft of the self.” ~Estee Martin

I'm thinking these attachments we have, well gee, next to everything on the face of the planet is no way to live. Yes, I am a mother, yes, I am a woman, but I am something alot more profound than that. I am spirit, this amazing piece of the universe. Once I drop this body I become this energy that is unchangeable and eternal. It is believed that our soul is our link to the Godform, the Universal Spirit, what ever identity you choose to give your God, Goddess, what have you. So, as a mother, I look at my son and I should see the same incredible unchangeable spirit in him as in myself. I not only have a responsibility to that little man, but I also have responsibility to that great spirit within him. Honoring his spirit, I honor the Universal Spirit.

The same would apply to all spirits - like a cow or a dog, for instances. Actually, it was a dog that inspired this blog. A man decided to leave a pregnant dog outside with no water, no food and no shade on a hot summer day. Animal rescue workers tried to save the dog, but she died. All the owners could say to the news crew is, "It's just a dog!"

I hear this phrase alot, "It's just a cat, it's just an animal." No, really, it is something so much more - it is a spirit. It is a piece of the Universal Spirit. It is a piece of God. Now, alot of people do not want to hear this, because of the "guilt" factor. Reasons are, most people want to eat meat and guilt and meat do not work well together. So, if they look at an animal and identify with this animal as an equal, then eating this animal will be impossible. They are most likely hungry.

Well, the Western Indians did not have this problem when he gave thanks to the animal he killed at the time it was hunted. He would thank the animal for sparing it's life for the meat they would eat. And thank the animal for his flesh for keeping the hunter's family warm for the winter. Now, that's what I call respect. Not the horror that goes on the plate today.

What we are doing today is the greatest sin to any God of any religion. Simply because we are spitting in God's face for the lack of respect for the spirit within each sentient being. I'm not just talking about these farm factories and these people who are abusing these animals, these children, these women and men. I'm talking about everything on the face of this planet and beyound.

Now think about this... The man who said that about his dog, "It's just an animal," he was a black man. Now only a few hundred years ago, a slave owner would of said, "It's just a N word." (Note: Keeping it politically correct, I despise that form of identification.) Not only did the slave owner disrespect the slave, he also disrespected his own God and I do mean the slave owner's God. That slave, once he dropped his body, he was spirit, he was God.

If all things were honored, if all beings were honored as if they were God, this planet would be so much different. We would not have a population problem, we would not have a food shortage problem, we would not have murders, rapes and pedophilia. We would not consume torture. We consume torture ever day - movies, news, dinner. Our own minds become torture with anxiety and depression medicines. This is what happens when you do not honor all things as God, simply because of our attachment to our identities.

So, why not step out of the flesh and do not look at yourself as human. Do not look at humans as human, do not look at animals as animals. The same with plants, same with this planet. Look at their spirit, look at them as if they are God. (To whomever you worship or not worship in some cases - whatever works for you. I honor them all.)

How about stepping out of the flesh for a few minutes? What will you identify with then? And ask yourself this, why do you have to identify with anything?

iSpiritDancer's Wavespell Sutra Prayer

I am working on a prayer or my own heart sutra or wavespell what have you... I'm basing these off of the 7 chakras and then end in the latter part of the 13 Wavespells.

I wanted to create a prayer to share with my son with the intention of bringing people to consciousness and to offer our own selves relief from the insanity that surrounds us. A way to focus perse.

I believe that seeding people for evolution is possible. It has happened to me and the most intriguing people has come into my life and still does. They have opened my heart and mind to things that I never even fathom.

But beforehand, let's set a tone:

Chakra tone: A mind at peace, a mind centered and not focused on harming others, is stronger than any physical force in the universe. ~Wayne Dyer

Wavespell tone:
“The reason why the universe is eternal is that it does not live for itself; it gives life to others as it transforms.” ~Lao Tzu

Chkr 1: ~May I learn from my past then let go of it.
Chkr 2: ~May I not be a slave to my desires.
Chkr 3: ~May my will be free from distractions.
Chkr 4: ~May my heart be a beacon of love.
Chkr 5: ~May I speak only truths.
Chkr 6: ~May I see past all illusions.
Chkr 7: ~May my thoughts be guided by Universal Truths.

Extending Beyound (8) ~May all sentient beings comprehend suffering.
Extending Beyound (9) ~May all sentient beings conscious of their actions.
Extending Beyound (10) ~May all sentient beings become sincere.
Extending Beyound (11) ~May all sentient beings be free of attachments.
Extending Beyound (12) ~May all sentient beings be free from suffering.
Extending Beyound (13) ~May all sentient beings achieve liberation.

I may modify this in the future, but it feels pretty "right" now.

I, Red Skywalker, Tuning Into Synchronicity

“I Endure in order to Explore. Transcending Wakefulness, I seal the output of Space with the Cosmic tone of Presence. I am guided by the power of Navigation.”

So, questions for you. As human beings are we constantly connected to some cosmic spirit that guides us? Or do we slip in and out of the universe's cosmic consciousness that connects us? Or do we have brief moments that are like momentary lapse of reasons? What about synchronization and the special messages that seem to occur around these synchronism?

For example, you are humming a tune in your head and suddenly your friend right next to you is singing the tune. Or, perhaps, there was a message that you needed to hear in church and suddenly the pastor says that thing you needed to hear. You know, weird stuff like that.

The First Insight Theory: Mysterious coincidences cause the reconsideration of the inherent mystery that surrounds our individual lives on this planet. James Redfield. 1993. The Celestine Prophecy

It's amazing when the universe starts to open itself up to you and the most weird synchronized events begin to occur. It is especially special for those of us who are paying attention to them.

Today, I decided to take one of my fellow Nia Instructors class today. I don't know why I chose this day, but this day was important for me to go see her. Then when I get there she says to me, "Wow, this is weird. My doctor said I should get a replacement, but I felt it was too late to call you." Huh, strange... So, I taught a portion of her class so she can take it easy.

I haven't been to her class in months and suddenly on the day she needs me I magically show up. I got to tell you, this happens to me so often, it's freaky. You'd figure that since I am at least conscious of it that I would pick up on the pattern, but it doesn't work that way. At least not for me as of yet.

Synchronization - the relation that exists when things occur at the same time.
"A term coined by Carl Jung to denote meaningful coincidence. Events bound by synchronicity are connected by similarity, by meaning, by resonance, rather than by causality. Synchronicity is an acausal connecting principle. Since it goes beyond causation, it goes beyond time and space, and is not limited by such relations."

I don't believe this was some big huge magical event that was suppose to occur. What I do believe is it is important to be conscious of these activities. Does this make me super psychic chic, no no no. I don't know if I fully trust the idea of psychic abilities. However, I do believe in our "Inner Mental Phone." I believe we do pick up on mental vibrations and when you focus on someone, or someone focuses on you, you can pick up on them and their thoughts or what have you. I do believe a cosmic conscious surrounds us and resonates throughout the universe for our mental phone to pick up on. I do believe we all can connect to this cosmic consciousness at any time to receive and even send messages. You've got to believe in it.

Now to defy the doubt of these synchronizations especially when there is a message that we need to hear. Too many people second guess themselves when these things occur. Why we can't believe these thing happen is beyond me. I do know that our minds are our worst enemies, so doubt naturally occurs because of our own self-doubt. I assure you, self-judgement seriously hinders our evolution. So, do not buy into the self-doubt.

There is no such thing as chance; and what seem to us merest accident springs from the deepest source of destiny. ~Friedrich Schiller (1759 - 1805)

There's a Baba In My Dream

Originally, I was using this blog for Nia, what Nia has done for me and what it could do for you. For that I went to WordPress, here's the link for that. http://aumnation.wordpress.com

This blog, I'm going to use as my personal journey as a spiritualist. If you can call me that, I'm still unsure and I am not going to make any assumptions about that. However, this blog is based on my personal journey, my trial, tribulations, affirmations and awakenings.
Does not mean it applies to you, or it may. I guess that depends on who this blog attracts.

This blog is called, "There's a Baba In My Dream." I named it so after a dream I had last week. The date was Friday, June 3rd, 2009. What a dream, so excited about this dream, not to say I'm special or anything, but the fact that I might actually be on the right path is enough for me to be excited about! And that I might be able to put the skills I have learned in the past decade to good use, to help heal some people on this wondrous planet, people who earned freedom of suffering! So, considering all the horrible mistakes I have made in my life and the resentment, the guilt and the illness from those emotions that has literally been eating me alive. I'm so thankful for this, because all the seeking I've been doing may actually be in the works.

See my intentions are quite clear now. I must help people, help people from suffering through discovering forgiveness, particularly forgiveness of self. Which I have found to be extremely hard to do considering the ego likes to play mind games with us and constantly screams at us saying, "You are suppose to be perfect! You really screwed up! You don't deserve forgiveness!" This obviously is not true. I don't care who you are, if your intentions are pure, and you are making more than an effort, forgiveness is yours. Just surrender to it, surrender to the work that has to be done to get to it. You know what it is, your physical self, your spiritual self is talking to you all the time.

Back to my dream, there were hundreds of people around this beautiful garden that faced a series of rocks almost like a mountain side in the background. There may have been a pond or pool of water in front. Luckily, I was sitting in front staring at the water, focused on it. Behind us, there was a green beautiful garden with woods and big boulders surrounding us. It was night time, it was dark outside of the garden, fire torches were blazing but they seemed to be a distance away. There was alot of people behind me, and two unlikely people, who I would of never really thought would be there was there with me in front and I had another friend who was back in the background.

I was distracted by the pool of water in front of me, when people started to cry with excitement, "It's him, it's him!" And even though I was distracted by the water, I heard him saying names. Then I heard him say my name. I looked up in surprise, shocked that this guy knows my name and he just smiles at me. Glorious beautiful smile!

I had a dream of Babaji Nagaraj!

There is a 2nd part of the dream, which I am convinced is a "Word Problem" ie a test. The energy was different in this dream. It felt uneasy, I felt uneasy and I think this was the "Ego" part of the test, something that I still have to work on. But more people were coming to see this guy in a building. He was sitting on this throne, it didn't even look like the same guy that I saw in the garden. I was going to see him there, hundreds of people around. I just wanted to walk past this guy, I felt on uneasy and he didn't look like he was happy with me at all. I think this was ego playing games with me again. I am unsure. So, shamefully enough I walked past this guy, past the doors and felt ill, ashamed of myself.

So, the word problem is, I really should not be ashamed of who I am. Babaji knows what is going on with me, I guarantee he does not care about my past, he only cares about who I am now. However, if I continue to beat myself up about it, I'm going to miss an incredible opportunity. I need to stop being ashamed, let it go, invite love into my heart. Surrender to what he has to offer and go with it. It belongs to me, it belongs to all of us, we just have to accept it and go with it.

If I see him, I'm giving him a big hug! Breathe out any fear or reservations and just surrender to a hug and a thank you for helping me work through this.

Namaste,
Tina
